Character is a series of public forums discussing the social and cultural aspects of graphic design and typography.

Past Character events have included discussions on whether a city can/should be style-guided, political neutrality in graphic design, the role of accident in graphic design, and many other topics. Character has also held Australia's first typographic film festival, and hosted the Australian premiere of Helvetica.

Audience participation, debate and feedback is encouraged.

Character is proudly initiated by Stephen Banham and the RMIT Communication Design Department and supported by Letterbox and the Australian Graphic Design Association.
